Windows Client Setup

For as much work as we have to do to set up SAMBA and change the LDAP installation to support samba, the Windows Client setup makes up for it. It is actually the most simple step of the whole process.

  • Right click on My Computer and choose Properties

  • Inside the properties window, click on the Network Identification tab. The following window will come up:

  • Now, click on the Properties button. The following window will open:

  • Now, type in the Computer Name, which is the name you used when you entered this computer into the LDAP database for the Machine Orginizational Unit.

  • Then click the Domain radio button, and type in the name of your domain from your SAMBA installation.

  • Click OK, click Apply, and Restart as prompted.

  • When the login window appears, choose the login using Your_domain_name section, and use a ldap username and password.

That's it. All done.
